NEW AND IMPROVED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN NEWTOWN PUBLIC SCHOOLS! Beginning in October, the first Wednesday of each month will be an Early Release Day throughout the district. On these days, Reed students will be dismissed at 12:48. Our teachers will remain for professional development time. Many districts in Connecticut and across the country implement this early release day concept to provide much needed collaborative time to their faculty. It has proven to be a very successful practice resulting in improved student learning and teaching! We are all very excited about the work we'll accomplish during this professional time. This year, the entire district will be focusing and collaborating around improving our writing curriculum and instruction! We'll be meeting between schools, amongst grade levels and across all subjects! The Early Release Days are: 10/6, 11/3, 12/1, 1/5, 2/2, 3/2, 4/6, 5/4 and 6/1. These 18+ hours of professional learning time will be treasured opportunities for us to improve our teaching. In the end, of course, our students reap the benefits! Thank you so much for your support!
