Menstrual Products and Clothing Support

All school Health Offices have free menstrual products available to students who may need them during the school day. Students may visit the Health Office at any time to access these products.

At Newtown Middle School, free menstrual products are also available in dispensers located in all girls’ restrooms and in the B-wing family (gender-neutral) restroom.

At Newtown High School, free menstrual products are also available in dispensers located in all girls’ restrooms, the girls’ locker room, and the family (gender-neutral) restroom.

The Health Offices at the elementary schools and Reed Intermediate School also maintain a limited supply of undergarments and clothing for students who may need a change of clothing during the school day. Because supplies and sizes are limited, families are encouraged to have their student keep a change of clothes in their backpack or locker or, if preferred, in the Health Office. This is the best way to ensure that appropriate clothing is readily available when needed.

Students should feel comfortable seeking assistance from the Health Office when they need menstrual products or a change of clothing. Our goal is to provide support in a respectful and private manner so students can return to their school day feeling comfortable and ready to learn.

Parents or guardians with questions or concerns regarding their student’s individual needs should contact the school nurse.
