Meet your NMS School Based Health Center Staff:

Nurse Practitioner: Ariel Belek Kohn, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC
Ariel Belek Kohn, FNP-BC is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from the University of Saint Joseph in 2019 with a Master of Science in Nursing. During that time, she developed a strong interest in pediatrics, completing extra pediatric hours and a rotation in pediatric pulmonary medicine. She has worked in the pediatrics department at CIFC Health and the Newtown School Based Health Center Since January of 2020.Providing preventive and same-day care to children. Her years working in intensive care as a registered nurse inspired her to receive her advanced nursing degree and provide preventive medicine as an upstream approach to preventing chronic illness. Ariel is passionate about partnering with schools and families to help promote student wellness.

Clinical Social Worker: Samantha Taurozzi, LCSW
Sam received her master’s in social work in 2019 from Monmouth University in New Jersey. Sam has several years of experience working with adolescents and families in various settings including residential, intensive groups, and outpatient individual therapy. Sam has been a clinician at the School-Based Health Center at NMS since 2022 and has enjoyed getting the opportunity to watch students grow into mature young adults ready for high school. Sam focuses on building rapport with students and meets students where they are at. Middle school is a challenging time for most; Sam appreciates having the opportunity to be a supportive figure for students during this time and welcomes all!

Medical Office Assistant: Nancy Kettner
Nancy joined Connecticut Institute For Communities (CIFC) as the Medical Office Assistant at the Newtown Middle School SBHC in January 2016. Previously, she provided administrative and customer service support in a business environment. She earned an associate degree in Business Administration from Westchester Community College. In 2014, she earned a Medical Administrative Assistant Certification from The Harris School of Business. She is the first person the Newtown Middle School students meet when they come to the SBHC. Nancy’s desire to work in a school environment with students has come to fruition and she is thrilled to be a part of the Newtown Middle School SBHC team.
